critical resonse.6

Born this way. The girl singing it is Maria Aragon.
Lady Gaga originally wrote and performed the song.
Lyrics:
Intro:
It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were born this way, baby

Verse:
My mama told me when I was young,
We are all born superstars.
She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir.
"There's nothin' wrong with lovin' who you are"
She said, "'cause He made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say"

Chorus:
I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way
Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Post-chorus:
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
(Born this way)
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby, I was born this way
Right track baby
I was born this way

Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be!
Verse:
Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth
In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my youth
A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital H-I-M (hey hey hey)
I love my life I love this record and
L'amour a besoin la foi

Repeat chorus + post-chorus

Bridge:
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent
You're lebanese, you're orient
Whether life's disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'Cause baby you were born this way
No matter gay, straight, or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to be brave

Repeat chorus + post-chorus

Outro/refrain:
I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey!

I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey!

I love the lyrics in this song because they are so powerful and make you feel like you can accomplish anything if you want to.
The tempo is fast which adds to the thrill and great fibe you get while listening.

I feel that this song is about being yourself, and loving who you are and never wanting to give up. Thrive for as much as possible because anything could be yours.

I liked this version because it had the same fast tempo but it sounded soft to me.
It was a great contrast between

Critical response #7

When I get where I'm going on the far side of the sky. The first thing that I'm gonna do Is spread my wings and fly. I'm gonna land beside a lion, and run my fingers through his mane. Or I might find out what it's like To ride a drop of rain (Chorus:) Yeah when I get where I'm going, there'll be only happy tears. I will shed the sins and struggles, I have carried all these years. And I'll leave my heart wide open, I will love and have no fear. Yeah when I get where I'm going, Don't cry for me down here. I'm gonna walk with my grandaddy, and he'll match me step for step, and I'll tell him how I missed him, every minute since he left. Then I'll hug his neck. (Chorus) So much pain and so much darkness, in this world we stumble through. All these questions, I can't answer, so much work to do. But when I get where I'm going, and I see my Maker's face. I'll stand forever in the light, of His amazing grace. Yeah when I get where I'm going, Oh, when I get where I'm going, there'll be only happy tears. Hallelujah! I will love and have no fear. When I get where I'm going. Yeah when I get where I'm going. This song has a lot of meaning to me because this was played at my grandpas funeral. The lyrics make me feel happy and sad at the same time. I feel happy because the message in the song is saying that we will meet again one day and everything will be okay, but it also makes me sad because I was very close to my grandpa and loosing him was an extremely painful thing and I miss him so much when I listen to this song.

Critical Response #4 Rhythm

Question 1.) 2/4 Rhythm

2.) 3/4 Rhythm

3.) 4/4 Rhythm

Question 2.)

World music is a term with widely varying definitions, often encompassing music which is primarily identified as another genre. This is evidenced by world music definitions such as "all of the music in the world", "somebody else's local music" or "non-western music". In the classic definition, world music is the traditional music or folk music of a culture that is created and played by indigenous musicians and is closely related to the music of the regions of their origin. The term was originally intended for ethnic-specific music, though globalization is expanding its scope; it now often includes hybrid sub-genres such as World fusion,Global fusion, Ethnic fusion and worldbeats. These terms may also be considered sub-genres of pop music, illustrating that the term world music refers to music that is also classified under other genres.

Critical Response #3

Artist: Elton John - Can you feel the love tonight.

Composer:  composer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice.

Lyrics:  There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best

There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours

Tempo: The tempo in this song is very slow and has a calming vibe to it.

Instrumentation:  There a lot of brass instruments in this piece of music. It is mainly a vocal piece.

My Summary:  I feel that the message in this song is about passion and enjoying the people around you. Never take things for granted. I also feel that it is about learning from your mistakes and growing as individuals.

I really enjoyed listening to this video because this girl's voice is a lot like Eva Cassidy's because her voice is very quiet but powerful. I also enjoyed the acoustic accompaniment, it made the mood of the song very sad.

Name of the song: Eva Cassidy
Writer: Bill Withers

Lyrics:

Ain't no sunshine when he's gone
It's not warm when he's away
Ain't no sunshine when he's gone
And he's always gone too long
Anytime he goes away

I wonder this time where he's gone
Wonder how long he's gonna stay
Ain't no sunshine when he's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime he goes away

Well I know I know I know I know

When he's gone
Always gone too long
Anytime he goes away
Anytime he goes away
Anytime he goes

The dynamtics in this song are very tense and pasionate. The song starts off very soft then gets harder as it progesses. The Instrumental part in this song sets the mood. It makes the song very sad and beautiful.

I thought this song is very beautiful and easy to connect with. This girl has gone through a tough heart break with a man that doesn't seem to care enough to stay with her. I personally thought that her voice was great for this piece of music because it told a story. You could feel her emotions through the power of her voice. When I listened to this song it made me think of my past relationships and how you always have to stay strong and think about the positive in order to grow.
